Nailed It! 2013: Season coming to a close

Bananverine? Wolvernana? Something else? You decide.

The season is rapidly coming to a close, and already has for every team in the NFC North and NFC South. Some of our favorite teams had a good year, while others did not. Unfortunately, no matter how good or bad the season, now begins the time to prepare for the next one.

However, while our teams may be out, our prognosticators still have a job to do! There were four contests this last weekend, and still three more games left yet to play this season. That provides our prestigious prognosticators a preponderance of possibilities to produce a place in the Pantheon!

In fact, just this last week there were 11 people who were able to add their names to the Pantheon. That is up from the Wildcard Round, but still down from our regular season average. With only two games this week, it might be hard to even match that number, but I know that we can do it!

It may be difficult to call your shot on teams that you normally cannot bring yourself to cheer for, but you must! Remember, lifelong glory and internet fame is on the line!

Now on to the games. I ask that you please use the list below to call your shots in the comments. Simply copy and paste it to the comments, and add your predicted scores after the team names. (Substitute scores for the XX and YY.)

Here is this week’s slate of games:

  • New England Patriots XX @ Denver Broncos YY
  • San Francisco 49ers XX @ Seattle Seahawks YY

Here’s to looking forward to the next season.

Anyway, read on to find out just exactly who Nailed It!

Final score

These are the people who have (somehow) correctly predicted the final outcome of a game. The only shot that was called that could be considered more famous than these belongs to . Bow down before their wisdom! (And make sure you ask them for next week’s lotto numbers.)

  • None this week.

Scoring differential

These are the ones who correctly predicted the margin by which the victors would best their competition. These are also the ones to consult if you want to bet the spread.

  • San Diego @ Denver – andylet445, Big Cheese, Cam of Steel, Maized and Confused, and Nardo all correctly predicted a seven-point victory for the Broncos.

Total combined score

These are those who somehow managed to pick the correct total score but did not have any clue in how the teams would actually get there. Still, if you want to bet an over/under, you could do worse than consulting with them.

  • Indianapolis @ New England – TheHairy1 correctly predicted that the teams would combine to score 65 points.
  • San Francisco @ Carolina – Cam of Steel, Maized and Confused, MKE, and rocketman6969 all correctly predicted that the teams would combine to score 33 points.

Winning team’s score

  • San Francisco @ Carolina – BearsSaveLives correctly predicted that the 49ers would score 23 points in a victory.

Against the grain

Oftentimes, our picks will be unanimous. However, there are those who will sometimes walk their own path.

  • None this week.
Vernon Davis made an incredible play on this touchdown catch.

Wrap-up

I would like to congratulate both Cam of Steel and Maized and Confused. Both of these men called two shots correctly this week, which gave them the best week of all the prognosticators. You both have earned temporary bragging rights over your brethren in the comments.

I would also like to congratulate the seven other people named above. You should feel proud that you are continuing to move up the leaderboard.  Before you know it, we might be seeing your name on there.

So, to all 11 people named above, feel free to take a bow. You all have earned the right to brag, just not to Cam and Maized this week.

The leaderboard

Now on to the leaderboard!

BearsSaveLives called another shot correctly, moving him into a tie for first place with MIBearFan. Both men now have 20 entries on the season, and with only the three games remaining, it will be interesting to see which one of them will come out on top.

Also, with his one correct called shot this week, rocketman6969 has now moved into sole possession of third place with 15 total entries.

There is also a new addition to the leaderboard! With one more correct called shot this week, andylet445 now has 13 on the year bringing him into a tie with LambeauOrWrigley for fifth place. Congratulations, andylet445!

Sitting right behind those two are four people with 12 entries, two people with 11 entries, and four more with 10 entries in the Pantheon. All it takes is one exceptional week from any one of these people, and they could find themselves in the top five!

Now without further ado, here is the leaderboard through the second round of the playoffs (in the case of a tie, the names are arranged alphabetically):

  1. BearsSaveLives – 20 entries
  2. MIBearFan – 20 entries
  3. rocketman6969 – 15 entries
  4. jwoude23 – 14 entries
  5. andylet445 – 13 entries
  6. LambeauOrWrigley – 13 entries

If you would like to see what shots the leaders have correctly called, or perhaps to see how close you are to them, you can find that in our Pantheon. Now until next week, let’s give a little congratulatory clap to those who are listed in this article. Or not. Your choice.

If you would like to have your name forever enshrined in the vast expanse that is the internet, simply call your shot in the comment section below for the games of the first weekend of the playoffs. I will be reviewing the comments and keeping track as the season goes on. And who knows? Maybe you’ll even see your name in the leaderboard!

If you cannot call your shots on Thursday, as is custom, it is still possible to participate. As long as your called shots are posted to the comments of this article before the games start, I will include them.

Percy "Headache" Harvin definitely got nailed on this play.

Disregard what I said about Jeremy Gallon even being drafted. Lions can probably sign him as a UDFA boombaya

You want to see an unbelievable car, go watch the UK Top Gear episode with the Jaguar XJ. The car drove over 800 miles on one tank of fuel, and had enough gas left in the tank to take it over 1,000 miles on a single tank.

And that was with Clarkson blasting the AC, Radio, and chilled seats plus driving 80 mph+ through most of France. Of course the price sucks, MSRP of $73,200 - $155,000.

The italians literally play a tougher version of football than Americans

Had to look up the name of the band that did the song I listened to for most of the drive into work. Now I have to buy their albums:

 The carnitas were faptastic!

I waited to try one until after I watched the wife try one. Her face right after biting into it was priceless. Shock, love and horny were all evident on her face at that moment.

Diesel engine, 17.5 Gallon tank, he averaged 57 mpg.

Yep, he was actually trying to run out of fuel earlier (the challenge passed by his house), but the car just kept going.

Yep, not man enough to play that

Cobb is way faster though. Gallon isn't a barn burner but he is a good route runner. I've been trying to find that gif of him juking the alabama CB (likely in the NFL now) out of his jockstrap

Cobb and I are the same height but he has 15lbs on me.

And that Jackson dude in Philly is pretty short too.

That' s a pretty big comparison though. There have been very few Wes Welker's in the NFL

Fuckin A. Now I want to make it again. Last time I did we had a couple friends over for dinner. It was nice and all, but I didn't get enough of it to eat. Sad.

It's all good. I still filled my pants to the brim with jizz while consuming.

Thanks chief.

Well, the ideal is to just get the tips (giggity) crispy, but sometimes it takes more like 8 minutes per side than 5. I think I forgot to say that, Shit. Sorry.

Eddie Lacy OROY

I couldn't get it very crispy though, I don't think I left it under the broiler long enough. I was impatient and hungry.
