Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was sacked five times in a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Recap

With a chance to clinch the NFC North and the #3 seed in the NFC, the Chicago Bears were simply manhandled by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chicago got a quick three and out on their first drive, punted for only 25 yards, and gave up an easy touchdown drive to go down 7-0.  Return man Devin Hester fumbled on the ensuing kickoff return, and it was 14-0 before the Chicago Bears could blink.

By the end of the first quarter, the score had reached 21-0 and the game was essentially over.  The final score read 54-11, but the outcome was decided long before some meaningless late scores reached that tally.

Studs

Nobody on the Chicago Bears had a good night. They were outclassed in all three phases of the game and outcoached on both sides of the ball.

Duds

There were 45 Chicago Bears active tonight. All 45 could be listed here.

A few I will particularly point out are running back Matt Forte, who gave up two sacks and was a complete nonfactor in the running game.  The offensive line also struggled in both pass protection and run blocking.  Quarterback Jay Cutler also struggled mightily, routinely missing throws short of long and holding the ball too long on a few occasions.

The entire defense was terrible, failing to generate sufficient pressure on Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles and missing too many tackles to count.

Special teams was also atrocious. Return man Devin Hester lost a brutal fumble early, and punter Adam Podlesh had a horrible night.

What’s Next

This loss was absolutely terrible for the Chicago Bears. The entire team looked as though they had no interest in playing a football game.

The season is not over, however, so it is important that they move on from this game rather than letting it linger.  The Chicago Bears still control their own playoff destiny.  If they beat Green Bay at home in week 17, they win the division and are hosting a game on wild card weekend.

While the Cards are much better at home than opposed to the road there is a great chance of them winning, The Saints are unbeaten at home the last two seasons with Payton and the LOLBucs are not up to the job to end it

So Todd McShay has Bridgewater, Bortles, and Manziel all going in the top 4.  If any team picks Johnny Manziel in the top 10, I think they will be disappointed.

Without Rodgers, and Now Mathews, (he re-fractured that same thumb yesterday)

I doubt they will win in Chicago next week, but on the other hand if the Bears that I saw last night show up, the Packers have a chance.

Okay, so is anyone going to enlighten me on what happened yesterday with the Packers and crosby? Did he miss an easy one or something?

LKP: I want to understand how the refs compounded the concentrated fluke injuries mostly form weather problems in the Lions dome.

Who would have thought at 5 weeks into the season, that the Panthers would be the only team who's fan base could hold their heads up high on here?

I'd like to personally thank all the other NFL teams that have done their part to make sure a broken and really not very good Packers team has maintained a shot at the playoffs approximately 8 weeks past their expiration date.

So they probably will resign him if they choose him to lead the playoff charge.

donkey was looking good for a while there, but then Stafford fucked up in the 2nd half of the season, now prep will most likely win this.

Bears have also been broken and not terribly good.

Really this division was handed to DET on a silver platter, yet somehow they're eliminated before the last week. Kind of mind-blowing.

Do you know how they currently compare?

A) I won't cry for the Bears. Their offense is fully healthy and couldn't do shit against the Eagles. The Tolzien-led Packers put up a better fight against the Eagles.

B) Detroit sucks a dick.

I have not checked it yet, but I have to imagine his turnover and incompletion festival these past few weeks has caused him problems.

stafford was ahead of favre at the midway point, but I assume Stafford has dropped below now due to the increase in interceptions and whatnot

when I said "handed to them on a silver platter" I mainly meant due to injuries. DET was healthy while CHI and GB were both fucked, yet DET is the only one eliminated from the playoffs right now.

Their D has been fucked indeed. This can't really be argued against (though some would try).

yes, the offense was a massive disappointment last night.

Their offense has been remarkably healthy all year. Only Cutler has missed time of any contributor, and that's nothing short of amazing.

But their D has been fucked far worse than any other NFCN team's D.

You've made the first step to recovery. This is a proud moment.

oh, CHI got fucked last night. I'm not denying that. PHI outclassed them in every possible way, and it was ugly.
