Quarterback Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears offense overcame a slow start to defeat the Cleveland Browns behind a 21 point fourth quarter.

Recap

Facing a 24-17 deficit in the fourth quarter, the Chicago Bears rolled off three straight touchdown drives to defeat the Cleveland Browns 38-31.

The win improved the Chicago Bears to 8-6 and brought them momentarily atop the NFC North, depending on what happens with the Detroit Lions (7-6) on Monday Night Football.

Studs

Wide receivers Brandon Marshall (six catches, 95 yards, touchdown) and Alshon Jeffery (five catches, 72 yards, touchown) both had big days, as did running back Matt Forte (24 carries, 127 yards).

Cornerback Zach Bowman had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Quarterback Jay Cutler was outstanding in the fourth quarter and ended up completing 22 of 31 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

Duds

Quarterback Jay Cutler also threw two interceptions on bad passes and missed several easy throws in the second quarter.  Additionally, he had issues with locking on to Marshall too much. Not surprisingly, the offense excelled in the fourth quarter when the ball was being spread around effectively.

The Chicago Bears offensive line struggled in pass protection, giving up two sacks and numerous pressures.  They should, however, be given credit for excellent run blocking on the last drive that clinched the game.

Chicago’s pass rush was virtually nonexistent, especially in the second half.  Cleveland quarterback Jason Campbell was under very little pressure throughout the game.

Safety Chris Conte dropped an easy interception in the third quarter and blew his assignment late in the fourth quarter that gave up a deep Josh Gordon touchdown and let Cleveland get back in the game.

Return man Devin Hester had two nice kickoff returns and a good punt return, but he also frequently let punts hit the ground and bounce instead of calling a fair catch, routinely costing the Chicago Bears five or ten yards of field position.

Punter Adam Podlesh had a rough day, averaging only 36.7 yards per punt despite only having to worry about keeping the ball out of the end zone on one of his three punts.

What’s Next

Fans of the Chicago Bears now are left rooting for the Dallas Cowboys to defeat the Green Bay Packers (all but knocking them out of playoff contention) and for the Baltimore Ravens to defeat the Detroit Lions (putting Chicago alone atop the NFC North).

With two weeks to go on the season, the Chicago Bears still do not control their own destiny, but they are right in the playoff hunt.  They still realistically need to win both of their remaining games, which begins next week when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the 8-6 Eagles.

can NOLA kick a fg- and actually make it.  It would be awesome.  I have heard they used to, but aparently that was a couple years ago

I already said why i didn't consider the money comment cheating. Y'all can bring up all other forms of cheating if you want but i'm talking about on the field. If you're not doing anything to gain the upperhand in a dishonest way. Then it's not cheating. Point blank. Ya'll keep bringing up the books and draft. And I had a reply for that too that i'm not about to type. Anyway i'm done with this conversation so kindly piss off

No I don't. There's nothing to be gained by doing that other than money so it's not cheating

Since every 1 yard run prompts a tweet or some other comment about him not being the OROY, every good run will draw an opposing post from me.

Probably the dumbest post/argument I've ever seen.

People lose a sense of reality when their football team is being embarrassed.

We barely won when Rodgers was playing. Now it's like taking candy away from a baby. Us being the babies.

Thanks to Drew Brees (my team) and Stacy (dick heads team), I'm getting blasted.

But it is Jimmy V week, don't give up .... don't ever give it.

DET had an outside shot at it.  Dallas would have to get over 400 yards this half, so it is unlikely.

It's not but all those other missed FG these past weeks certainly were
