If you are in the Super Bowl round of the Water Cooler Sports Pick’em Contest, come on down!

Sudden death

And now we’re down to two.

Actually, there are still four hardy souls left in our Water Cooler Sports Postseason Pick’em Contest. Only two, however — top-seeded frontrunner dalaislama and his challenger, the 7th-seeded jwoude23 — remain in contention for the championship and our prize, a gift certificate for $25 in merchandise from our brand-new ! Perhaps not coincidentally, they are also the two highest seeds remaining in our competition.

How does the old saying go again? “The cream rises to the top” or something like that.

Which of our contestants will skip his way to bragging rights and our big prize?

Meanwhile, our two lower seeds — No. 11 Childerz and No. 13 BearsSaveLives — will be attempting to salvage their reputations and regain a shred of glory in the Bronze Match.

It’s been a great run for all of them, particularly our lower seeds, who have survived four rounds already, so I wish the best of luck to all of you.

I only wish that the Pro Bowl round had been a bit more exciting. Both of our matches were decided by the tiebreaker, as everyone predicted the NFC to win, no one correctly predicted a score, and no one projected the MVP. Hopefully, we’ll see a reemergence of our contestants’ prescience as we look forward to the Super Bowl round.

I am NFCS and I agree something seems amiss with the Madden challenge. I in NO WAY am saying it was monkeyed with. IMO

Rodgers is the best QB in both leagues and Brees is the easy pick in NFCS but I see why Ryan got the spot

RB. Doug Martin and Dwill and then it is a huge Gap after in the NFCS. AP the best, Then those two  in the next 2 spots. Forte is nice but overrated IMO

WR...pretty even! CJ, Jennings, Harvin, Marshall to Jones, White, VJax and Steve Smith.

Defense should be slightly in favor of NFCN, especially if you take the injured players out of the mix.

Oline should easily favor the NFCS since I have seen the Bears and Packers play before...LOL

Should have been more like 6-4 NFCN in my head.

IVORY>>>WTF!!!!!

Jeez, this place died faster than my already-low view of Madden football games.

Twitter: The Jets brought Tebow in to run the Wildcat, now they want JaMarcus Russell to come run the Kitkat.

It's a video game... I used to be able to beat ANYONE with the 68 overall ranked Bengals in Madden 2000.  I put Akili Smith at QB, threw to Peter Warrick, and ran all over with Corey Dillon... I was unbeatable... video games.

which WR actually made it I'm pretty sure cobb made it over jennings not sure about the south but IMO Marshall and CJ alone are better than any two combo the south could march out there.

I like the NFCN's odds because of the talent at QB and RB.  I do think the NFCS can field a better back 7 on defense, though, so I guess either outcome was cool with me.  8-2 with so many blowouts though?  'Taint right man.

Forte is better than DWill.  Just look at their production . DWill had ONE year.

Both are stacked at WR.

NFCN huge edge at CB, which makes them the better D.

the WNBA has more credibility than Madden Simulations.

  THIS SHIT WAS IMPORTANT!!!

Until the NFCN lost.  Then it was just dumb.

I'd go a healthy Harvin over Marshall but yes I agree those two tops...but I'd put Smith, White and JJ 3, 4, 5 then  Marshall then VJax then Cobb (or Jennings)...I think Rodgers makes them great..they are good, maybe very good, Rodgers gives the boost though.

NFCS better back 7?  Surely you must be joking.  NFCN has best CBs in the NFL.

robertj72
robertj72

If Grimes and Gamble were not IR 90% of the season they could match up any CBs in the NFCN

robertj72
robertj72

Absolutely not. The production for DWill is only off because the 50/50 him with Stewart. Forte has never matched DWill lone season nor is he close in yd/carry. Dwill has 1100 carries and 4.9 average.

I had a feeling this was going to happen...  I've simmed seasons on that game where the Rams have won the Super Bowl.

it wasn't dumb from the sense that the north lost just the manner in which it was never close

Agreed, although like I said I think you could take any WR and put them with Brees or Rodgers and they would look very good and if those guys on those teams went elsewhere they would lose their shine.

Harvin's a slot guy, Marshall's outside.  BUt both these teams have insane weaponry in the passing game.

the only division in football that would have a chance to match up with the NFCN for defense is the NFCW.

For LBs, Matthews was 2nd rated PFF 3-4 OLB, while Briggs was 3rd for 4-3 OLBs.

Johnathan Wood

NFCN has no stud safeties, but plenty of guys who can give you average play.

bp.
bp.

And I was happy with Hayward... for a rookie.  But honestly, if he was top four in the league that's only because numbers tend not to encapsulate an entire game.  He played well on slot receivers, but wasn't being matched up 1-1 with guys like CJ.

Anyways, the Bears CB's are very good, like I said.  I just don't think that's enough to cover for everything else back there.

Johnathan Wood
Johnathan Wood moderator

Clay and Briggs are both still very top LBs, Tillman, Winfield, and Hayward were all ranked among the top 4 CBs in the NFL this year by PFF, and that doesn't include Jennings, who led the NFL in INTs and started in the Pro Bowl (and PFF ranked 9th).

bp.
bp.

If that's true I feel for the rest of the NFL.  Chicago has two very good ones, with Tillman being tip-top.  The rest of the division is pretty "meh."

And I think - nay, I know - that the NFCN safeties are weaker than weak.  Meanwhile, with the Bears LB core getting older that is also a weak spot for the division.  Clay is the standout, but he is really an LOS player.

robertj72
robertj72

I don't disagree...Just saying a healthy Grimes or Gamble could match them play for play...neither healthy, niether played. point NFCN

no jennings tillman heyward i believe were all top 5 cbs this season

robertj72

He is that good but the team believes Stewart (wrongly) is that good too. It has been unfortunate but it will allow DWill to have a longer career.

Johnathan Wood
Johnathan Wood moderator

Not to mention Forte also has 2x the receiving totals DWill does.

If he was that good, he would get used more.

robertj72
robertj72

That has nothing to do with DWills talent and everything to do with coaches using two top RBs on the same team.

Johnathan Wood
Johnathan Wood moderator

Forte has never even had an average OL, and Forte still is more consistently productive than DWill.
