Halftime pizza party runs too long, Green Bay Packers miss second half against San Francisco 49ers, lose 45-31

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was at a loss to explain why his team forgot to leave the locker room in the second half. Leftover pizza is believed to have been the culprit.

Recap

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy ordered pizza for halftime to celebrate a high-scoring first half. Unfortunately, no one bothered to knock on the locker-room door and remind them that halftime only lasts 12 minutes, so they forgot to take the field against the San Francisco 49ers for the final two quarters.

The result was an utter rout as the 49ers steamrolled their way to a 45-31 victory and an NFC Championship berth.

Game Ball: Offense

No one did more for their team than San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, whose 183 rushing yards on 14 carries obliterated the previous NFL postseason record for a quarterback. The fact that they were able to give up 13.1 yards per carry to a second-year quarterback making his first playoff start should be an embarrassment this team will never live down. And that’s not even taking into consideration the two rushing touchdowns they surrendered — or the fact they allowed Kaepernick to complete 17 of 31 passes for 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Game Ball: Defense

The entire defense deserves recognition for stifling the Green Bay Packers passing and rushing attacks, but we’ll give the nod to interior linebacker Patrick Willis, who finished with seven solo tackles and a sack. Outside linebacker Aldon Smith forced a fumble, while cornerback Tarell Brown hauled in an interception.

Goat

The entire organization — from head coach Mike McCarthy to punt returner Jeremy Ross — should be hanging his head in shame after this humiliation. They were thoroughly outplayed, outcoached, and outclassed. They didn’t even belong on the same field as the 49ers this evening.

What’s next

The Packers go home and watch the rest of the playoffs from the couch, which is where they would rather seem to be anyway. At this point, the 49ers have to be considered a favorite to win the Super Bowl. They were two special-teams gaffes from making the big dance last year, so there’s no reason to assume they won’t be able to get there this week. It’s difficult to see the winner of the Atlanta Falcons/Seattle Seahawks match-up tomorrow posing much of a threat for such a hard-nosed, well-rounded team.

Well done, 49ers. You play the game the way it is meant to be played. You deserve whatever success comes your way. I wish you all the best.

Welp... the wife finally persuaded me to watch Jack Black in "Bernie"

That's some funny shit.  3 stars outta 5 in my book.

If you like black comedy, you should check it out.

Good night, Cub Scouts

Chicago curse: teams with offensive coordinators the Bears interviewed this week went 0-4 in the divisional round.  Our stink extends beyond just our team.

They have a much faster personel with players such as Sean Weatherspoon, William Moore, Thomas Decloud and John Abraham and their corners tackle alot better than Green Bays and they have better coaching IMO

Mike Nolan > Dom Capers.

Don't get carried away in your grief.  If the Pack took care O' business in Week 17, Da Bearss might still be playing

You're acting like a Loins fan with 3 digits in your IQ (they have plenty to moan about... not Da Bearss)

Your team still sucks, but not that hard

Cheer up

bc we have a 9er fan trying to brag about Kaepernick and how he carved up GB who has a better D than ATL.

Yeah, i'll be done in may, a degree in health information technology. I hear there are plenty of jobs to be had, but I 'm still nervous about it.

  Me too man!

After this semester, I only have 7 credits to go . I could be done this summer if I take summer classes but since I have a full scholarship, there is no need rush it. I am done in Dec.

I'm getting tired of it though. I wish I had a job lined up so grades weren't as important.

I'm not complaining, just trying to be funny.  I find it ironic that all 4 teams Chicago is looking to for offensive help lost.

Atlantas d is better than GB's IMO

But apparently, Atlanta's D can also give away a game. They looked sad in the 4th.

One would think, yes. I'm cautiously optimistic

Well, not many people are studying to be in my field. So who really knows.

It depends on where you go, Doyle.  I think a mistake people make is going into the health field thinking they will get a job because it's in health. Many hospitals are changing. My mom is a nurse. She was telling me that starting this year, they will not be hiring anyone with just an Associated Degree in nursing. They want 4 year degree Min.

Shit is changing fast.

I should add, at her job.

Well, I go to a private school so that's part of the problem.

Well, if you're both in private practice, you ain't gonna see each other anyway

If you can't land a job in the private sector, learn to do trial work and then go private.  Nobody says you have to make a career of it

I know, but it's hard to get your foot in the door without them. I did average my 1st year and killed it my 2nd year, but I missed out on on-campus interviews and stuff because of my 1st year grades.

McCarthy never had any real success as an O-coordinator before getting a HC gig

Da Bearss biggest problem in the near term:

Aaron Rodgers plays in their division

SDL

So what?  Look at the Packers.  All the fucking offense in the world doesn't necessarily mean wins in the divisional round of the playoffs is your defense can't stop a fucking nosebleed
